Kenfig Hill 2nds went to the top of the district 2nds league with a hard fought win over Brackla with a young side. With youth fixture being cancelled on Friday then Kenfig Hill took the opportunity to blood several youth players in a tough league fixture against Brackla - with none of the starting XV aged over 25. A torrential downpour just as the game kicked off hampered the running style of rugby which Kenfig Hill wanted to play and the only score in the first 15 minutes was a penalty to Kenfig Hill scored by Michael Rawnson. Youth winger Ceejay Sharpe managed to find some space and skipped round several Brackla defenders to score in the corner to make th halftime score 8-0 to Kenfig Hill. Kenfig Hill made several changes at halftime and continued to pressure the Brackla line. Afte a series of pick and gos from the pack to take them from the half way line then hooker Joe Williams forced his way over for a try which wasn't converted. Not long after the restart the youth flanker Josh Dixon playing out of position at full back took the ball at pace after an attempted clearance by Brackla to go over unopposed for Kenfig Hill's third try. However, Kenfig Hill couldn't find a fourth try for a winning bonus point and it was Brackla who took control of the final quarter scoring 2 unconverted trys in the final 10 minutes to make the final score Brackla 13 - Kenfig Hill 18. The win took Kenfig Hill to the top of the district 2nds league for the first time in front of Llanharan with one game remaining against Bridgend Athletic and the Enoch Lewis Cup final to look forward to on the 16th April also against Bridgend Athletic.
