Winning weekend to start the season

All 3 sides started the season with a flourish in appalling conditions with the 1sts and Youth winning against Maesteg Quins and Pencoed respectively and the 2nds leading 7-3 at Glynneath before a serious injury to a Glynneath player caused the game to be abandoned after 46minutes. The 1sts managed to cope with a waterlogged pitch much better than the Quins and eventually ran out 23-11 winners with Gareth Russell taking the man of the match award. A strong youth team also beat a big Pencoed team with some excellent defensive work and strong spirit meaning that they were able to pull away from Pencoed in the final 15minutes. The 2nds took a bare 15 players to Glynneath, again in blustery wet conditions, and were leading 7-3 just after half time with a try from Kyle Oram which was converted from the touchline by Jac Briggs. However, a serious back injury (cracked disc) to a Glynneath player led to the game being abandoned on 46minutes. As per WRU rules then the game will be replayed. Thanks to first aiders who ensured that he was well looked after on the pitch and best wishes from all at Kenfig Hill for a speed recovery.

Top rate first half performance by the 2nds playing into the wind and rain. Awesome defence and looked sharp in attack. Add my thanks to Vicki the first aider who helped the Glynneath first aiders on the pitch until the ambulance came. Prof
