Good Start To The Season By The Mules!

The Mules ran out deserved victors away to Seven Sisters for their opening fixture of the season in Division One West Central.

From the outset the Mules carried well and regularly crossed the gainline with forwards Jamie Meers and Evan Williams to the fore.

The Mules defence also looked on top form with hardly any tackles missed throughout the game.

The first try was scored by last year's youth flanker Josh Dixon who scooped the ball up and darted over from 10 yards following a turnover in mid field. Full Back Lloyd Giles added the conversion.

Shortly afterwards Giles showed great enterprise by taking a quick 5 yard tap penalty and touched down close to the posts with no defender in sight. He added the conversion to give the Mules a 14 0 lead at half time.

The 2nd half was a bit scrappy with Seven scoring a solitary try in 'coffin corner' following a lineout.

Lloyd Giles kicked a massive penalty from half way and then added a further 3 points with the final kick of the game to leave the Mules deserved winners by 20 points to 5.

Overall this was a very satisfactory performance by the Mules under new coach Marius Walters. If they maintain this form throughout the season then this should be the first of many victories.
